The conflict in Ukraine and rising gas prices have raised the temperature around energy conversations in the U.S. FGH’s Research and Insights team found the following in recent energy polling:
- Americans are split on whether protecting the environment (50%) should be a priority over developing U.S. energy supplies such as coal, gas, and oil (46%).
- Forty-four percent of Americans say the energy situation in the U.S. is very serious, compared to the 32% who said so this time last year.
- Eighty-four percent of global respondents say it’s important to move toward more sustainable forms of energy and away from fossil fuels.
- Gen Z (17%) and students (25%) name energy as one of their top political issues.
- Men (57%) are more likely than women (47%) to disapprove of how Biden is handling energy.
