Communicators: “What Now?”

Now that the CDC has said vaccinated people can resume their pre-pandemic lives, it’s important to consider what that means for an organization’s communications to its stakeholders.

We recently offered this advice to school administrators but think it applies to leaders of all organizations:

  • Refresh the communications plan to consider what new scenarios may occur to save time and effort when those situations arise.
  • Give careful thought to core messages so that they project confidence, thoughtfulness and empathy for everyone adjusting to a return to normal life at their own pace.
  • Conduct a communications audit to figure out whether all the various methods of communication that have been used over the past year are still necessary.
  • Think through COVID’s aftereffects that may lead to new issues requiring skillful communication.
